What are different entry process or exams for entering into Indian Air Force?

Join IAF after 10+2: If you are early joining to IAF after finishing school then you have to appear NDA exam which is conducted by UPSC. You should be from a science background and Physics and Mathematics are your compulsory subjects.

>If you miss a chance after 10+2 then don’t worry you obviously get ample opportunity to enter after your Graduation. There are two ways to go. First is CDS exam and other is NCC special entry.

CDS exam: CDSE exam is conducted by UPSC twice every year. From here shortlisting candidates are trained at the specialized flying training. Here only male candidates can apply.

NCC entry: Aspirants aiming to join the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force and possessing the Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ Certificate of the National Cadet Corps are eligible to apply for NCC Special Entry.

Join Indian Air force after Engineering: If you are from Engineering discipline and want to join I IAF, you have the option to join Technical branch of IAF as recognized by the UPSC through UES and AFCAT exams.

Join Indian Air Force after Post Graduation: Apart from the active flying branch, you can also serve in the Indian Air Force in Ground Duty Branches, which comprises of Administration Branch, Accounts Branch, Logistics Branch, Education Branch, and Meteorological Branch.Candidates who have completed their Graduation with Mathematics and Physics and PG in Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology. All candidates should have scored a minimum 50% marks are eligible for the AFCAT for Ground Duty Branches of IAF. Candidates applying for the Ground Duty Branches can join Indian Air Force on Permanent or short service commission basis.

Salary: Flying branch is Rs. 74,264. The technical branch is Rs. 65,514. Ground duty branch is Rs. 63,014

Age Limit: The age limit varies from post to post. Minimum age starts from 16 years and up to maximum is 28 years.

What is your Educational qualification for different posts?

1)Flying Branch: A graduate candidate with minimum 60% marks and must have scored minimum 60%marks in Maths and Physics in 10+2 in 12th standard. B.Tech/ B.E candidates who have scored minimum 60% marks and have scored 60% marks in maths and physics in 10+2 in 12th standard are also eligible for it.
2)Ground Duty Technical: The candidate must have B.Tech/ B.E degree in 60% marks and have scored minimum 60% marks in Physics and Maths in 10+2 standard are eligible for technical entry.

3)Ground Duty Non-Technical: Administration and Logistics – Graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent
Accounts – B.Com Degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.Education – Postgraduate degree (MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International Studies / Defence Studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT /Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation) with minimum 50% marks, along with minimum 60% marks in graduation.
