Except that a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1,1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan,Burma,Sri Lanka,East African countries of Kenya,Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania,Zambia,Malawi,Zaire,Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
How much Salary an IPS Officer can hold? |
Salary: The salary of an IPS Officer is quite good after the implementation of the fifth Pay commission. Entry-level IPS officers are paid around Rs 40,000 per month. Middle-level IPS Officers are paid around Rs 60,000 per month. Whereas senior-level IPS Officers are paid around Rs 80,000 per month.
The specialty is that extra perks are entitled to Officers depending upon their posting of some locations.
What are the Selection strategies and other Abilities required? |
Selection procedure: To become an IPS officer, the foremost level of this procedure is to qualify Civil Services Examination (CSE)which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC)every year which happens in 3 sessions.Preliminary, Mains and Interview. I did the exam so I know the question paper level and all those things. To crack all the round of this exam you not only prepare yourself but also you must have strong Dedication, Perseverance, Confidence, Discipline and don’t give up. This is the most important.
>Physical ability:
1)Height: Minimum height of 165 centimeters is necessary for male candidates while minimum height for ST/SC/OBC candidates is 160 centimeters. Whereas, female candidates require a minimum height of 150 centimeters and women of ST/SC/OBC candidates are given relief of 5 centimeters.
2)Chest and EyeSight: For male candidates of all the categories, they must have the chest of 84 centimeters and female candidates must have the chest of 79 centimeters. Eyesight should be between 6/6 and 6/9 and candidates who have weak eyesight must at least have 6/12 and 6/9.

>Additional Training at a facility(Government Training Centres):
After qualifying all these rounds, a candidate is sent for the training of 3 months (July to September) in Mysore for Foundation course. In the foundation course, candidates are taught about the basic concept of the Constitution of the country, History, and Politics.
>Except this there are round of training step by step which is equally important. They are discussed respectively.
1)Training At Hyderabad: After undergoing this training, candidates are then sent to the academic training in the Hyderabad for the period of one year from October to September. During this training, they are given knowledge about the investigation, forensic science, crime prevention, human rights ethics, etc…
2)Field Training: During this period they are also taken for the outdoor training in which have to perform Parade, horse riding, swimming, climbing, and training of using arms. These are the basic training which is necessary to become an IPS officer.
3)Practical Training: After taking academic training in Hyderabad they are sent for another training for 6 months which is called practical training. In this training, candidates are taught writing FIR, and working style of SP, CO, PAC, DGP headquarter and CID unit.
4)End Of Training Session: Then they again go back to Hyderabad and tell about their learning of the past 6 months. After getting the training of 22 months, they are now appointed for the post of CO and after doing this job for one and a half years they are promoted.
Other information: In 1948 Indian Police Service post was placed.IPS Officer service is Technical service. So you must have proper Height, Eye vision and other physical ability. If you occupy this post you will become part of the top leadership group, capable of commanding various police forces.
